Stuff and things
Well, we're down to six days till W-Day, which doesn't quite sound as good as "D-Day," but is more accurate. Things still to do: get flowers for cake, finish table decorations, print announcements, speakers for the reception ... Okay, maybe that's it. It'd be nice if it was.
I went down to the AP Wednesday to fill out my application and take the newswriting test. I took half the average time to take the test, and I'm not sure how well I did, but I think I did okay. Plus, since I got done before they thought I would, I got to sit in on the morning news meeting with the Louisville bureau staff, along with people from Lexington, Frankfort and Bowling Green. And Ann, the state news chief, made me introduce myself during the conference call and tell everyone about my experience. Bah! Then I sat around and talked to her and the state bureau chief, Hank. They're planning on recommending me to the national council, so as long as I can defeat the chosen few by bureaus across the nation, I'm in. Ack! Ann said the two people she's sponsored to the national council have both gotten it, though, so that's a good sign. It'll be wicked cool if I get it.
I'm trying to freelance more, and I'm trying to break into a lot of local magazines Today's Woman, Kentuckiana Family and Kentuckiana Parent and if you see anything you think might make for a good story, let me know.
Also, you can check out my new "official" Web site here: Tracy Lightfoot, Writer-at-Large.
Alright, time to get ready for work ... Yuck. TGIF.
